Sadly the part between Revin and Fumay was not really interesting as the railway was between the Meuse and us, although Fumay was a very nice place with a relaxed quay.. But Vireux to Fumay made up for this and we saw lots of trains as well on the opposite bank. For a big part a canal runs alongside the Meuse towards lock 53. You don’t see the Meuse there but apparantly the canal had attracted many activities in the past some of which were still visible. There was even a stretch of a small parallel canal. At Haybes we saw many boats and trains. And a sofisticated raft that according to us came from Holland. In Haybes we found a pub where we finally could have a drink.
Helaas was het gedeelte tussen Revin and Fumay niet erg interessant want de spoorlijn lag tussen ons en de Maas. Fumay zelf is een lieflijke plaats met een gezellige kade. Het stuk van Fumay naar Vireux was weer volledig langs de Maas hoewel een deel langs een kanaal voerde dat de schepen naar sluis nummer 53 moest brengen. In het verleden is er wat aktiviteit rond het kanaal ontstaan en er was zelfs een klein stukje smaller parallel kanaal. Lock 53 ligt heel schilderachtig tussen de bomen. Bij Haybes zagen we een aantal boten en treinen. Zelfs een technisch ingewikkeld vlot dat volgens ons uit Nederland kwam. Daar was ook een uitspanning waar we eindelijk iets konden drinken.
