France 2014 photo album 1 – Douloin – Nièvre
We rented the house Joie de Vivre in Douloin, one of the newer houses in this rural village. Very free and quiet, with the exception of the weekend, when we heard the noise from lots of cycling groups on a nearby road on the hill. It was so quiet that you could hear the change of gears. We made several trips: along the Canal du Nivernais in the second album, but also along the water supply for the canal in this album.
We huurden het huisje Joie de Vivre in Douloin, erg rustig gelegen in een uitbreiding van dit landelijke gehucht. Alleen in het weekend hoorden we rumour van de koersers, het was er zo stil dat we ze een eind verderop konden horen schakelen. We hebben diverse trips gemaakt: langs het Canal du Nivernais (album 2), en bijvoorbeeld langs de watervoorziening van het kanaal.
France 2014 photo album 2 – cycling along the Canal Du Nivernais
In June 2014 we cycled a part of one of the nicest canals in France, Canal Du Nivernais, during our summer holiday in the Morvan. We did 5 stages, from south to north: Anizy to Romenay, Chatillon-en-Bazois to Baye, Etangs de Vaux to Chaumot, Chaumot to Cuzy and Asnois to Clamecy. Each stage clearly has its own character, the most spectacular being the tunnel of Voutes de la Colancelle.
In june 2014 hebben we langs een gedeelte van een van de mooiste kanalen in Frankrijk gefietst, Canal Du Nivernais, tijdens onze zomervakantie in de Morvan. We hebben 5 etappes gedaan, van zuid naar noord: van Anizy naar Romenay, van Chatillon-en-Bazois naar Baye, van de Etangs de Vaux naar Chaumot, van Chaumot naar Cuzy en van Asnois naar Clamecy. Het leuke was dat elke etappe een eigen sfeer had, waarvan die van de Etangs de Vaux naar Chaumot met de tunnel van Voutes de la Colancelle het indrukwekkendst was.
France 2014 photo album 3 – Fontaine lès Luxeuil – Haute-Saône
The last week of our summer holiday in 2014 we went to the Haute-Saône, to a horse farm that had a gite on the premises. So every evening we witnessed how the noble mothers with their foals were guided to their sleeping accomodation. Heaven on earth for a horse lover which we are not. It was however a very joyful stay, thanks to the owners of the mansion. We did several nice walks and cycling trips.
De laatste week van zomervakantie 2014 trokken we naar de Haute-Saône, naar een paardenfokkerij, die een gite verhuurde. Met het gevolg dat we elke avond de rasmoeders met hun veulens naar de slaapvertrekken zagen brengen. Echt iets voor paardenmeisjes en dat zijn we niet. Maar het was er wel heel fijn vertoeven en de mensen waren aardig en niet opdringerig. We hebben ook nog leuke wandelingen en fietstochten gemaakt.
