On the way to the Hebrides in Scotland we visited the Keighley And Worth Valley Railway. Because my girlfriend was reading Wuthering Heights at the time we disembarked in Haworth, were impressed and went on. The next stop was the Lake District where my parents had rented a holiday cottage. Nearby was the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. During our short stay there we pleased my dad by letting him show us the station in Haverthwaite. Steam runs in the family.
Op weg naar een vakantie op de Hebriden deden we de Keighley And Worth Valley Railway aan. Omdat mijn vriendin Woeste Hoogten aan het lezen was, stapten we uit in het dorpje Haworth waar alles om de zusjes Brontë leek te draaien. De volgende halte op onze reis was het Lake District waar mijn ouders een vakantiehuisje hadden gehuurd. We zijn daar twee dagen gebleven zodat we mijn vader het plezier konden gunnen om ons de Lakeside And Haverthwaite Railway te tonen, nou ja niet helemaal, maar in elk geval het station van Haverthwaite. Stoom zit ons kennelijk in het bloed.
