In the wetlands of the Dutch lakes district there are a few nice walks like this one in the Loosdecht lakes area. The lakes were created by peat harvesting in the 17th and 18th century. In the 20th century the inhabitants of Amsterdam discovered their recreational value. In the summer holiday season it will be difficult not to run into other people every 5 seconds, both on water and on land. But on the average weekday outside the holiday season this natural beauty spot makes for great quiet walks. Sometimes it is like walking on water, with paths of 3 meters wide and hardly rising above the water level. The Oppad Kromme Rade track is a very nice round walk (Oct 2020).
In dit Nederlandse plassengebied kun je aan paar leuke wandelingen maken. De ondiepe plassen zijn ontstaan in de 17e en 18e eeuw toen er turf werd gestoken. In de 20e eeuw werden de plassen een gewild recreatiegebied, vooral voor Amsterdammers, zodat je het beter kunt mijden in de zomervakantie. Met paadjes van 3 tot 4 meter breed die nauwelijks boven het water uitsteken lijkt het soms of je op het water loopt. De Oppad Kromme Rade wandeling is een heel mooie.
